We have been considering the clamp type hoops for a while now. They are quite pricey though. We would really like to be able to do some larger embroidery on purses and totes.
What size would you recommend for being able to center a design ina tote or large purse, and still be able to do things like carhartt jackets? ![]() |

Ken,
I have a clamping system from MIM Industries for my Tajima and really love it. You're right.....they are quite expensive. However, I've seen the newer version of the clamps called the Slim Line version and they have the very large sewing fields (about 9 x 11, I think). Very nice and a "very nice price" also. Can't afford that one right now, but that would be something to consider. The largest field that I can stitch right now is 7 x 5 1/2 and I can fit it into several canvas bag pockets. Hope this helps. Ken,
We have the EMS Clamping System and love it. We use it for bags of many types but use it most often for shorts and for shirt sleeves. We have only the smaller set of windows. I am trying to imagine (without success) how you would clamp a Carhartt jacket back; but, can see how it might work on the left chest.

Do they even make one big enough for a jacket back?

Yes, it's my understanding that the stitch field would be approx 8" x 10".
